Product Description

This documentary brings to life the amazing story of making Quilt of Belonging, the most comprehensive work of art ever made in Canada. Artist Esther Bryan recounts why she started the project, beginning back in her father’s small village in Slovakia. Meet some of the army of volunteers who devoted thousands of hours over 6 years to realize the immense Quilt project.

The film crew travelled many miles to film a wide range of block makers and capture their compelling stories. Join Inuit fashion designer, Vickie Okpik, in her workshop and watch Barbara Little Bear and her daughter Towanna Miller do their exquisite beadwork as they share their history. Meet Marta Viscarra in her cozy apartment to hear her story of surviving torture in El Salvador and listen to Tatiana Joiukova’s touching narrative of coming to Canada to save the life of her young daughter.
