Sample Projects

The projects featured in this section were done by real schools using some of the on-line games and activities featured in Quilt of Belonging’s LEARN section. They show how others have used the education resources to inspire their students.

1.    Wasse Abin Pontiac School and Wasse Abin Junior School, in Wikwemikong and Assiginack Public School in Manitowaning: The Debajehmujig Storytellers developed and filmed in-classroom projects with grades 1-6, in these schools.

a.     Read the outline Engaging Primary School students in self-expression, exploration and relationship prepared by Tabitha Peltier, Debajehmujig Storytellers Youth Animator. This document defines the goals, subject areas for specific activities from the Quilt resources, and provides warm-up exercises and games to motivate and energize the students.

 

b.    Watch the video filmed and edited by Matthew Manitowabi, Debajehmujig arts animator and videographer. It shows the process used in making a ‘Quilt of Belonging’ from first steps, through making individual blocks to finished Quilt.

 

2.    Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School: Engaging photographs show high school students making beautiful individual blocks for a ‘Quilt of Belonging’. Text explains why each student chose the materials and images they used.
