Government of Canada hosts the Quilt of Belonging

The evening of December 08, will definitely be remembered as an outstanding event for the
Quilt of Belonging at a reception held in Ottawa.

The Honourable Noël A. Kinsella Speaker of the Senate and the Honourable Peter Milliken, M.P. Speaker of the House of Commons in collaboration with Aga Khan Foundation Canada graciously hosted a reception to offer all MPs,Senators, Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Supreme Court Judges and other dignitaries the opportunity to view the Quilt.

Absolutely stunning in the beautiful atrium of the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat on Sussex Drive in Ottawa, Quilt of Belonging glowed softly under the night sky making this the perfect location to hold this prestigious event.

Dignitaries from all over the world spent the evening studying the blocks, exchanging stories of their heritage and sharing our vision of ” A Place for All “. Those present were fascinated by the scope of the project and delighted by our representation of their respected country or heritage.

The Board of Directors of Quilt of Belonging with Artist Esther Bryan and many long time volunteers remain committed to this project and its message. To be hosted by the Canadian Government and thus acknowledged is truly an honour !
